This article describes how to create an announcement in EPIC and add an announcement number. 

Roles

Technology office staff are responsible for creating new announcements in EPIC. EPIC users must have the 
EERE Project Lead role in EPIC to create a new announcement for their office.

Add Number to Announcement

The following users can add numbers to announcements in EPIC:
• Lab Calls: Not applicable. EPIC will automatically assign a number to the Lab Call. This field is not editable.
• NOFOs, NOTAs, NOIs, RFIs:

  • Grants Management Specialist/Contract Specialist (GMS/CS)
  • Contracting Officer (CO)
  • Financial Assistance Office Branch Chief/Team Lead
  • Financial Assistance Office Director
  • Financial Assistance Office Division Director

Step-by-step guide to Create An Announcement

  1.  Hover over the Announcement menu and select Announcement Management.
  2.  Click on Create Announcement.
  3.  Announcement Type: Select NOFO, Lab Call, NOI, NOTA, or RFI. Note: if NOI is selected, you will need to relate the announcement via the Related Announcement grid.
  4.  Enter the Announcement Title. Note: A working title is okay. You can change it later.
  5.  Enter the Anticipated Fiscal Year of Publication
  6.  Select Anticipated Funding Source.
  7.  If BIL or IRA was selected as a funding source, select the applicable Anticipated Funding Source Provisions from the prepopulated drop down list.
  8. Servicing Office: Select the GMS/CS and CO’s office. (GFO or NETL). Notes: You cannot change this later. If Lab Call is selected, this field defaults to HQ.
  9. Select your Technology Office from the drop-down. 
  10. Select the Announcement Manager. This will default to your name, but you can use the drop-down list to select any EERE Project Lead registered in EPIC for the selected office.
  11. Click Save & Continue

Step-by-step guide to Assign a Number to An Announcement (NOFO, NOTA, RFI, NOI)

  1. Obtain Announcement Number:
    a. For NOFOs, NOTAs, RFIs, or NOIs: The GMS/CS creates an announcement in STRIPES to obtain a number. 
    b. For Lab Calls: Not applicable. EPIC will automatically assign a number to the Lab Call. This field is not editable. 
  2. Hover over the Announcement menu and select Announcement Management.
  3. The GMS/CS has two options to assign the number:
    1. Option 1: Click the Assign Announcement Numbers tab, find the desired announcement and enter 
      the number from STRIPES. 
    2. Option 2: Locate your announcement in the grid, click the blue Action button next to it, select Assign 
      Announcement Number, then enter the number from STRIPES.
