you're part of NETL, an FFRDC, or an Industry, Academia, Non-Profit, or Government |
organization. |

STEP 1:
Start the Registration ProcessBegin Your Registration
Go to the
Energy Program Information Center homepage.
Click "Create Account" in the top right corner.
STEP 2:
Select the Type of AccountChoose the option that matches your affiliation:

For NETL or FFRDCs
: This
includes option is for users from Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).
For General Public / Other Organizations
- This includes individuals
: Choose this if you are from Industry, Academia, Non-Profits, or Federal, State, or Local Government.
STEP 3: Authenticate with OneID
You will be redirected to the OneID landing page:
- For
General Public: Click "Login.gov" under
“Sign For NETL/FFRDC: Select any available OneID authentication method.

- Log in with your existing account or follow the prompts to create one.
- You will receive a one-time code to verify your identity.
NETL/FFRDC: Select any available OneID authentication method.
STEP 4:
EnterProvide Your Personal Information
Enter your
First Name and Last Name.first name and last name.
Your primary email address will be

(from your login credentials

- (Optional) Add a secondary email or phone number if you wish.
STEP 5: Select Your Account Affiliation
Choose your account type based on your role:
🟦For(Industry, Non-Profit, Academia, or Government
Users)
Under "Account Affiliation," select your organization type.
Enter your UEI or organization name
and click "Search". Remember, your organization must be registered
in SAM.gov.
Select your organization from the list.
Review the "Organization Details," then click "Next."
If your Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) is not yet registered in the system,
continue registration, but your access will be restricted until your AOR approves it.
- Choose the role(s)
- you need. AORs will automatically be assigned the AOR role

Your organization’s AOR(s)/AA(s) will receive a notification to approve your account.

Follow the instructions below based on your selection.

STEP 5a: Select Your Account Affiliation (NETL)
- Applying to funding opportunities (NETL Applicants)
Select "
DOE Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC)."
Choose "National Energy Technology Laboratory" as your FFRDC.
Select the role(s) you need to conduct business

Review your profile and click "Submit Request.
Once submitted, your NETL AOR(s)/AA(s) will be notified to approve your account.

Select "National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) – Award and Project Administrators."
Expand the
"CMEI list", then select the "Technology Office" and desired role(s)

Review your profile and click "Submit Request.
The appropriate Technology Office administrator will review and approve your account.

Select "National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) – Award and Project Administrators."
Select "NETL," choose your role(s), and click "Next."
Review your profile and click "Submit Request.
The NETL office administrator will review and approve your request.

Q: My organization is not registered in SAM.gov. Can I still register for an account?

Q: I am an AOR/AA. How will I know when someone from my organization registers and needs approval?
