This article provides steps for the DAS Communications Lead to conduct the Green Light process in EPIC.
Roles
Announcement Manager, Back-Up, or Tech Office Comms Lead: Requests the green light in EPIC.
EERE DAS Comms Lead: Receives notification email from EPIC when green light has been requested in EPIC.
Outside EPIC, conducts sensitivity check.
In EPIC, marks sensitivity check as started and provides the green light.
GMS/CS: Sends OMB Notification for NOFOs, RFIs and NOIs (see FA Process for OMB Notification Requirement)
Grants Officer: Receives notification from EPIC when green light is provided; publishes announcement in EPIC
Step-by-step guide - View Green Light Request
- Go to https://epic.ee.doe.gov/EPICWeb, hover over the Support Activities menu, and select Communications.
- To find a specific announcement:
- You can sort NOFOs, NOIs, and RFIs by Publication Year or sector/technology office (WBS)
- You can filter by Action Required, Active, or Issued Next (X) Days
- You can search columns by keyword

- Locate the Publication Green Light Documents column and click the View Documents link for your announcement.
- The Publication Green Light Documents window appears. Click the title of the document you wish to download.
- The document will download in the bottom left corner of your Chrome browser window. Click the document to open and view the details.
- Click Close.
Step-by-step guide - Start the Sensitivity Check
- Outside of EPIC, send the sensitivity check email.
- Within EPIC, hover over the Support Activities menu, select Communications, and locate your announcement.
- Click the Action button next to your announcement and select Start Publication Sensitivity Check.
- EPIC will display a success note on the top right corner.
Step-by-step guide - Mark Sensitive (If Applicable)
Applicability: If someone on the sensitivity check email requests a hold, mark the action as sensitive in EPIC. To do so:
- Within EPIC, hover over the Support Activities menu, select Communications, and locate your announcement.
- Click the Action button next to your announcement and select Sensitive.
- In the Publication Justification field, enter instructions to the Announcement Manager on what issue(s) need to be resolved to remove the hold.
- Click Save.
- The announcement's Green Light Status will change to On-Hold. Once the issues causing the hold are resolved, provide the green light in EPIC.
Step-by-step guide - Provide Green Light
- Within EPIC, hover over the Support Activities menu, select Communications, and locate your announcement.
- Click the Action button next to your announcement and select Provide Publication Green Light.
- EPIC will notify the Grants Officer that the green light has been provided and the announcement will be removed from your Action Required view. If you want to go back and see the announcement again:
- Refresh your browser window
- Select Active Announcements
- The status of the announcement will show Publication Green Light Provided
